Financial Transparency
What is transparency in government and why is it important? Simply put, transparency in government means that information is provided to citizens about what their government is doing. This type of openness promotes accountability and will ultimately make the government more effective.
The Town of Tabiona is committed to providing a transparent organization to its residents. According to the Sunshine Review, there are 10 pieces of information a town website must have to meet the basic standards of transparency; we will do our best to provide most of these:
- A central page for information on town taxes and fees
- The town budget
- Names and contact information for elected town leaders
- Names and contact information for unelected town administrators
- Minutes of past town council meetings
- Financial audits of the town
- Contracts that the town has awarded to private businesses
- A list of any lobbying organization of which the town is a member
- Instructions for obtaining public information from the town
- “How-to” information for obtaining building permits from the town
We've created this page as a resource for our residents. We are working hard to make all this information easily accessible on our website. If you have any questions or concerns regarding transparency, or, if you have questions regarding any of the material on this list that is not found on our website, please contact the Town of Tabiona office at 435-848-5481.
